“Danger!” Legend James Holzhauer is both intelligent and funny.
On the season premiere of Jeopardy! Masters, which featured the show’s greatest champions, Holzhauer, 39, couldn’t help but make a cheeky remark after answering a question from the spelling category.
When asked how to spell the botanist’s last name, which also functions as a flower or a reddish-purple hue, Holzhauer correctly answered “fuchsia.”

“What is FUC?” he said, staring into oblivion, then stopped. “H, S, I, A,” he added with a little laugh.
“You’ve got to be careful with that fourth letter,” Holzhauer quipped, speaking immediately to host Ken Jennings, who had answered correctly.
This drew laughs from the audience and smiles from contestants Yogesh Raut and Amy Schneider.

Social media users were tickled by Holzhauer’s comments, writing on Instagram: “It made me laugh.” [at] i can’t stop it [laughing at] What James said. Haha!!!,” another added. “Tonight’s show was interesting.”
Some people were surprised that they had been misspelling “fuchsia” for so long. “Today I learned that I’ve been misspelling fuschia all this time,” they admitted.

But the laughter didn’t end there. When Holzhauer is introduced to viewers later in the show, Jennings notes that Holzhauer is the last contestant announced as part of the program, and he refers to himself as the “final boss” of the tournament. He explained.
“What does that mean?” Jennings asked about the “last boss” comment.
“I’m the main event,” he said stoically, drawing a burst of laughter from Jennings.
“We have five leadoff pitchers, and you’re the only one,” Jennings retorted.
Referring to the Mario character, Holzhauer said, “We defeated Goomba. Now it’s time to defeat Bowser.”
