Horrifying footage captured by a witness’ cell phone shows man being attacked They were attacked by a pack of dogs before police arrived and shot at the animals.
Video shows the dogs running and attacking a 53-year-old man as he was walking near the intersection of Fairmount and Union streets in the Mantua neighborhood of West Philadelphia around 10:16 a.m. Wednesday.
Officers initially tried to scare the dog away by activating the car’s siren, but were unsuccessful. The video shows him running towards the dog and firing. One dog gets hit, but the others run away.

Police said the dog that was shot was a Cane Corso and the other three dogs involved were pit bulls.
The victim suffered multiple dog bites all over his body and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He is listed in stable condition.
The officer was not injured in the incident, but was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by the Home Office.
A similar incident occurred Friday when 41-year-old Kaheem Robinson was arrested. attacked and killed In an apartment in the Bronx, New York City, by his own pit bull. When police responded to the call, they found the dog biting Robinson’s legs and neck. They shot the dog, and the man was later pronounced dead at St. Barnabas Hospital.
Robinson’s family said he had just gotten the dog, likely to help him cope with the recent loss of his 18-year-old daughter to cancer. He lived homeless for two years before finding an apartment. She added that the whole family loves animals, and Robinson grew up with dogs, cats and snakes.
The officer involved in the shooting was treated for injuries.
