WARNING GRAPHIC: Video Shows Philadelphia Cop Shoot At Dogs Assailing Man In Street

A West Philadelphia police officer was forced to shoot a dog that was attacking a man on the street Wednesday, NBC 10 Philadelphia reports.

Police officers shot the dog to stop it from attacking the 53-year-old man. according to to NBC 10 Philadelphia. Authorities said the officer was on routine patrol when a witness reported several dogs loose nearby. The incident was captured by video Officers found four dogs attacking a man. He tried unsuccessfully to scare the animal away using his police car’s siren.

As the attack continued, the officer got out of his car and fired several shots at the dogs, killing one, identified as a Cane Corso. The remaining dogs then fled the scene, the newspaper reported. The victim suffered multiple bite wounds all over his body and was immediately transported to a local hospital, where his condition was ultimately reported to be stable.

Police confirmed that the officers involved during the incident were unharmed. However, it was noted that the officer’s body-worn camera was not working at the time of the shooting. NBC 10 Philadelphia reports that the officer has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into the incident, and details are being carefully scrutinized, including video evidence from the scene.
