Conor McGregor calls for lifetime ban of Ryan Garcia after reported positive drug test following victory

Ryan Garcia suffered a tough loss to Devin Haney on April 20 in Brooklyn, but still won by majority decision.

The bout was scheduled for the WBC super lightweight title, but Garcia was 3 pounds overweight. Therefore, belts were not available.

But the record books remain as they are for now.

ESPN reported that Garcia tested positive for ostarine, a banned substance considered a selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM), the day before and the day of the game.

Garcia denied taking any drugs, saying he had “never taken steroids in my life” and “I don’t even know where to get them.” Ostarine is not a steroid, but it can stimulate muscle growth.

“At the end of the day, I hardly take any supplements,” Garcia told X.

Conor McGregor disagrees and wants Garcia punished.

“I cheated on my weight, got juiced, and got banned for life,” McGregor said in a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter). “It’s sad to see and it’s sad to say. It’s sad and I feel a little sick. If you see Ryan Garcia, please stay away. I’m really disgusted.”

McGregor cheered for Garcia in the locker room after his loss to Gervonta “Tank” Davis last year, but it appears that support has ended.

According to ESPN, the test results were not known until after the game. A positive drug test could overturn Garcia’s victory.

Garcia knocked Haney down three times, handing the WBC super lightweight champion his first loss.

The fighters didn’t go into the bout without controversy. The two got into an argument at a press conference at the Empire State Building a few days ago, which apparently resulted in the cancellation of the first pitch at that night’s New York Mets game.
