‘Lord of the Rings’ actor Bernard Hill dead at 79

British actor Bernard Hill, best known for his role as King Théoden of Rohan in the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy and Captain Edward Smith in the 1997 film “Titanic,” attended the ceremony on Sunday morning, according to the Associated Press. Died.

Mr Hill’s representative confirmed his death. The cause of death is unknown at this time. He was 79 years old.

Hill’s big break came in 1982 when he starred in the BBC2 show The Black Stuff as Yosser Hughes, a disabled working-class man. His character’s catchphrase is “Giza’s Job!” (“Give us a job”) was frequently used by conservative Margaret Thatcher’s opponents due to high unemployment rates.

Hill appeared in several films and television shows, but his first role was in the 1996 film The Ghost and the Darkness, starring Michael Douglas and Val Kilmer. The following year she starred in Titanic.

His other major role was co-starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in The Scorpion King, where he played Philos. He then appeared in the second and third films of the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy.

Hill recently appeared in several episodes of the BBC series The Responder. According to his IMDb, he had one of his movies in pre-production.

Following his death, BBC drama director Lindsay Salt paid tribute to Hill. “Bernard Hill blazed a trail on screen, and his long career filled with iconic and notable roles is a testament to his tremendous talent.”
