A former federal prosecutor said Monday that a special counsel should investigate funding of anti-Israel protests on college campuses across the country.
Several anti-Israel camps have been set up on university campuses, with some escalating into violent clashes and the occupation of school buildings by demonstrators as protesters demand the sale of schools from Israeli-affiliated companies. Former federal prosecutor Andrew Cherkasky told Fox News host Harris Faulkner that the protests could warrant a federal investigation. “I think this is the right time for the special counsel to look into what’s going on across the country and to make sure that there’s no particular focus on one region versus another. “The idea that the Department of Justice is going to investigate what’s going on across campus, we need to look at the idea that this is organized criminal activity,” Cherkasky said. “There is a difference between the First Amendment rights of speech and assembly and the idea of conspiring and assembling to commit a criminal act, even if that criminal act is simply trespassing. I’ve seen more than just trespassing.”

Cherkassky later said of funding anti-Israel protests, “The FBI and the Department of Justice should be very interested in funding extremist terrorist organizations, or at least organizations that support them.” Ta. “After January 6th, the FBI and even the Department of Defense launched these massive extremist investigations. I talk about that in my new book, Woke Warriors. The idea that the government is prepared to look after and investigate the funding and processes behind right-wing extremists and far-flung extremists, when the current message is that they are is not doing anything left-wing. This is a real and fundamental failure in the Biden administration regarding support for Hamas, a designated terrorist organization. ”
Several big-time donors to Democratic causes have given money to groups supporting Jewish Voice for Peace and IfNotNow, two groups behind the campus protests, Politico reported. report. Both organizations are supported by the Tides Foundation, which reportedly receives funding from donors including George Soros and the Rockefeller Brothers Foundation.
“These are large-scale funded operations and could be considered RICO investigations,” Cherkasky added.
