Google is sending a stern message to advertisers: “Don’t get involved in the dark side of AI.”
The search engine is cracking down on the promotion of deepfake pornography, the practice of using artificial intelligence to modify or alter a person’s face or body to depict sexual scenes.
The tech giant has given advertisers a strict deadline to abandon all business with sites that engage in unethical tactics.

“This update explicitly prohibits advertising for services that offer to create deepfake pornography or synthetic nude content,” Google spokesperson Michael Aciman said in a statement. told The Verge..
According to the updated policy, advertising within that “scope” will be prohibited starting May 30th.
“We take violations of this policy very seriously and consider them egregious,” it reads.
“If we detect a violation of this policy, we will immediately suspend your Google Ads account and prevent you from advertising with us again, without prior warning.”
