The 2022 figures show a 10% increase in gun-related crime rates compared to 2021 and a 60% increase compared to 2013.
Morgan focused on handguns, explaining that “63 percent of gun-related homicides are committed using handguns.”
Canada has strict gun laws, and Morgan suggested they have become even stricter in recent years. During that period, “the federal government expanded background checks, banned 1,500 models of assault weapons, imposed a nationwide handgun freeze, and released 250,000 new weapons to address the root causes of gun and gang violence.
