Jerry Turner and Teresa Nist blamed their divorce on their living situation, but according to “Bachelor” alum Ben Higgins, there was more to it than that.
During Monday’s episode of the Ben & Ashley, Almost Celebrity podcast with Ashley Iaconetti, Higgins claimed that a disagreement over a cornfield led to their rift.
“This is a rumor. I want to be clear by the way that this is a rumor that generalizes the conversation between Jerry and Teresa, and I think you’ll find it interesting,” Higgins began.
He explained that before the trip to Indiana, Turner and Nist already had “disagreements in life.”

As Turner picked up Nist and drove them from the airport to their lake house two hours away, Nist’s comments about the area’s many cornfields brought to light an alarming problem between the couple.
According to Higgins, “[She said], “Wow, look at this beautiful, unspoiled land. Think of what we could do if we developed it: condominiums, office buildings, apartments. Towns that could cluster in these open fields, and “Think about the people who are interested in moving here. And look at that lake. There’s a lake with nothing but cornfields around it. Think about whether you’d build a resort where people can vacation.” And Jerry’s comment back to her, which was also a rumor, was, “You don’t take land from farmers.” ”
He added: “This was the beginning of a big disagreement between them about how they see the world, what they imagine about the world, and how they want to invest in the world.” added.
Representatives for Turner and Nist did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s requests for comment.

Iaconetti jokingly doubted the story, but Higgins again emphasized that it was just a rumor.
The episode’s guest, former “Bachelor” star Chris Soules, who also happens to be a farmer, said he sees “both sides” to this argument.
“There are areas that benefit from development, and it makes sense economically. But there’s a lot of land out there, and farmers have a lot of land to cultivate. And sometimes, maybe they don’t have enough. There’s a misconception that there’s a shortage, but there’s no shortage of ‘no more creating new land, so there is,”’ Soules said. “But that doesn’t seem to prevent a fundamental breakdown in the relationship, I would say. I think there’s a happy medium that we can all live in together. … That’s the outcome. I don’t think I should have brought it.” [a breakup], but I’m sure you all have your own ideas. ”
Soules also said distance could be a “factor” after the show.

Turner and Nist announced their divorce last month after three months of marriage.
“Teresa and I have had many heart-to-heart conversations, taken a close look at our situation, our living situation, etc., and have mutually come to the conclusion that perhaps now is the time to do so.” We need to dissolve our marriages,” Turner said during an appearance on “Good Morning America” with Nist last month.
Nist added, “We have received so much love and support from so many people who have watched ‘The Golden Bachelor,’ and how many people have expressed how much hope this movie has given us. I don’t think you can tell us what you’ve given us. We don’t want anything.” That changes for everyone. ”
The pair married in a televised ceremony in January after Turner proposed on the season finale of ABC’s reality dating series.

The problem seemed to be arranging the living environment. Mr. Nist is based in New Jersey and Mr. Turner is based in Indiana, and although there were plans to move to South Carolina, those plans never materialized.
“We looked at a house in South Carolina, we looked at a house in New Jersey, we looked at houses after houses, but we just couldn’t make a decision,” Nist explained on “Good Morning America.”
The two also had animosity toward each other, as Turner said, “I still love this person. There’s no doubt in my mind that I still love them.” He also revealed that the problem was not that the two fell in love. I love her and support her every day. ”
