Grocery delivery service Instacart is expanding into restaurant takeout, it announced in a press release Tuesday.
Instacart is partnering with restaurant delivery service app Uber Eats for a new line of business. According to the release. In the coming weeks, its customers “will be able to use the Instacart app nationwide to order from hundreds of thousands of restaurants powered by Uber Eats,” the company said.
“With this partnership, Instacart customers now have access to both the best online grocery selection and restaurant delivery in the U.S., making it easy to meet all their food needs from a single app.” said Fidji Simo, CEO and Chairman. Instacart said in a release.
The Instacart app now has a new “Restaurant” tab where users can find local restaurants, place orders, and track delivery, according to the release.
For those paying for Instacart Plus, service For $99 per year or $9.99 per month, you also get free delivery on restaurant orders of $35 or more.
“Our goal is to make it easy for people to go anywhere and get everything,” Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said in an Instacart release. “We’re excited that this new strategic partnership with Instacart will bring the magic of Uber Eats to even more consumers, drive more business for restaurants, and create more revenue opportunities for delivery companies.”
