‘The Chosen’s’ Amanda Jenkins Testifies: ‘God’s Goodness Eclipses Suffering’

Author and speaker Amanda Jenkins admits that a Bible study on suffering may not be a popular topic, but adds that it can be life-changing.

Jenkins, lead creator of additional content for the hit series Chosen person The wife of series author Dallas Jenkins is a co-author of the new Bible study. God’s mercy towards the electSeason 4’s companion, explores how God uses suffering to bring good into the lives of those he loves.

“God doesn’t take away suffering when we ask, but His goodness covers suffering,” she told Crosswalk Headlines. God’s goodness is greater, more important, more life-changing and life-stable. ”

season 4 Chosen person Suffering is in the spotlight more than in previous seasons, with characters dying tragically and Jesus’ followers wondering why Jesus didn’t intervene. Jenkins said the eight lessons of Bible study address that issue.

“We are tackling some of the more difficult problems,” she said.

The theme of suffering is personal to Jenkins.

“We have a chronically ill daughter,” she told Crosswalk Headlines. “So it’s really a double whammy because it hurts for me to watch her suffer and she can’t stop it. And [God’s] don’t stop it. So to me, her mother, what makes her seem lovely is not something he chose, but something he chose. teeth Love. So how do you solve it? So, what we discuss through study is what to ask of God and what to get from God. ”

“But the truth is, eventually, if you’re stuck in grief for long enough, it takes a long time for you to begin to realize that God’s choices are better than ours. The fruits of His choices may take a long time to manifest.”

She co-authored the study with her husband, Douglas S. Huffman, a professor of New Testament at the Talbot School of Theology at Biola University in California.of each season Chosen person This includes Bible study companions.

Jenkins says suffering looks “different” in light of the study he authored.

“Instead of praying for salvation, I’m learning to pray more about God Himself and the goodness He has through Him and the things He is doing through Him,” she said. . “If God chose to release us today, I would have a party. But I’m starting to see suffering in a completely different light. This is a mundane thing. Sufferers from time immemorial have said the same thing. I’m not saying anything new. I’m just saying it’s new to me.”
