In comedy, it’s all fun and games until one comedian yells “chop” at another.

Jerry Seinfeld is backtracking on a comment he made about Howard Stern earlier this week in which he implied Stern was not funny. The confession made headlines, and Mr. Seinfeld shared his remorse and asked Mr. Stern for forgiveness.

“I really regret the comments I made about my friend Howard Stern in conversations with David Spade and Dana Carvey about the glut of comedy podcasts,” he said. Page 6 on wednesday.

“I wanted to say he would feel surrounded, and I said ‘flanked,’ but that sounded horribly insulting. And of course these None of the little shows are a threat to his huge show. Anyway, it was terrible and I’m sorry. I still love you, please forgive me.”

Seinfeld’s first comments were made during an episode of David Spade and Dana Carvey’s “Fly on the Wall” podcast. A group of comedians were all discussing how comedy made its way into the world of podcasting.

“Howard Stern invented this, right? But now we’re better than him. Howard’s an interesting guy. Howard’s a great interviewer, but, you know, he’s got a comedic talent, so he’s not very frank.” Can I talk to you?” Seinfeld suggested.

Spade said, “Of course,” and Carvey said, “No.”

Spade said Stern’s philosophy should be more “serious.” Mr. Carvey added that Mr. Stern’s longtime co-host Robin Quivers was hired for the humor element.

“Yeah, they’re all great, but let’s face it, he’s outsmarted,” Seinfeld said. “This is the best [podcast] Now on air. You guys play so well together that it’s smooth and you don’t jump on each other and it’s not frustrating to listen to.”

Representatives for Mr. Stern, who has been on “The Howard Stern Show” since 1985, did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
