INDIANAPOLIS – Jalen Brunson will try to go.
The point guard is warming up with the intention of playing in Friday’s Game 3, Tom Thibodeau said about 90 minutes before tipoff.
Brunson is listed as questionable due to a sore foot he suffered in the first quarter of Wednesday’s Game 2 win over the Pacers.
Brunson missed most of the first half with an injury, but reappeared at halftime and gave New York a 2-0 series lead in dramatic fashion.
The short-handed Knicks have been hit by several injuries this season, but Brunson is paramount to their success.
When he was absent in Game 2, the Knicks lost to the Pacers, trailing by double digits at halftime.
When he returned, the Knicks took control.
He led the NBA in scoring with 35.6 points per game in the playoffs, posting four consecutive 40-point performances from the first to second rounds.
Leading the series 2-0, with OG Anunoby out of Game 3 with a hamstring strain, there was talk online and on the air that the Knicks punted the game to get Brunson and other players back healthy. It flew around above.
Donte DiVincenzo applauded the idea.
“No, you can stop there,” he said. “We’re not punting anything. We’re here to win the game.”

Brunson has played in 28 consecutive games.
He suffered a knee contusion in March, missed one game and was limited in minutes.
He missed two games in January with a calf strain, one game in February with an ankle injury, and another game in February with a neck spasm.
Since the playoffs began in late April, the Knicks have lost three rotation players to injury: Anunoby, Mitchell Robinson and Bojan Bogdanovic.
They had already lost Julius Randle.
Anunoby is the only player with a chance to return in the playoffs, but the hamstring strain is troubling and the Knicks have not provided a recovery timetable.
ESPN reported that Anunoby is “unlikely” to play in Sunday’s Game 4.
