New York police have arrested a “person of interest” in the investigation of a Bronx rape suspect who was videotaped assaulting a woman.
Casshern Parks was arrested Saturday and charged with attacking the 45-year-old victim in the Bronx around 5 a.m. on May 1, the NYPD confirmed to Fox News Digital.
The New York City Police Department released a photo of the suspect on Friday and asked the public to help find him.
Surveillance video captured the assault, showing the man putting a noose around the woman’s neck before strangling her until she lost consciousness and dragging her out onto a dark street.

The video shows the man looking up and down the block and then cuts out.
“The man dragged the victim between two vehicles and sexually assaulted her,” the NYPD said in a statement.
The video, which was widely shared online Thursday, shows a masked man sneak up behind the victim, wrap a looped belt around her throat and drag her to the ground.

She appeared to lose consciousness within seconds, her hands falling to her sides from a defensive position as the man dragged her between two parked cars.

The male suspect then fled on foot toward Melrose Avenue, NYPD said.
The victim was taken to New York City Health Hospital in Lincoln and was listed in stable condition, authorities said.
Police said Parks, 39, has been identified and wanted in connection with the assault.

An NYPD spokesperson said Parks has not yet been charged and police are awaiting charges against him.
As of May 5, 511 rapes had been reported in New York City, the same total as during the same period last year, according to NYPD data.
