A CNN panel of prominent Trump critics and liberal journalists reached an agreement on Saturday that gag orders should be placed on all witnesses in former President Trump’s hush money trial, not just Trump.
Anti-Trump podcast host after Judge Juan Marchan refused this week to dismiss former President Trump’s gag order during his trial, prohibiting him from speaking about witnesses, jurors or district attorney staff in the case. Swisher and New York Times journalist Lulu Garcia-Navarro agreed with what other trial witnesses said: Should also be gagged.
“I think there should be a gag order on all of them,” podcast host Carla Swisher declared during the debate.

He added: “I have to say Cohen should be held accountable. He’s been all over the place.”
“Yeah, that too,” Garcia-Navarro agreed.
Cohen, a former Trump lawyer turned outspoken critic of Trump, went to prison in 2018 after pleading guilty to campaign finance violations, tax evasion and lying to Congress about Trump’s past dealings with Russia. is scheduled to testify at trial next week.
“Stormy Daniels, everyone,” Swisher added, including the adult film star who testified against the former president. Observers have described her testimony, which includes intimate details of her alleged sexual encounters with the former president, as “sneaky.”
The Times reporter added, “I agree with that,” before Swisher said, “I think that’s fair, because social media is everywhere.”

Mr. Trump’s lawyers made a similar argument to Judge Marchand, saying the gag order was unilateral and applied only to Mr. Trump and not to other prospective witnesses.
For example, Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen, who is scheduled to take the witness stand on Monday, has made disparaging comments about Trump on social media, raised money for the case, and posted images of Trump in prison. Although he is wearing a shirt, a gag order prevents Trump from speaking or acting. His team does not respond publicly.
Garcia-Navarro agreed with Swisher’s point about imposing a gag order on all witnesses, but insisted at the beginning of the panel that he believed Trump had not been treated unfairly by the judge. did.

“But what the judge said was that Donald Trump has proven to be so biased and over-the-top in pursuing people that he actually upheld the gag order.” It is important to do so.”
She continued, “This is based on Donald Trump’s actions and what he has said before. This is not something the judge is doing simply to punish Donald Trump.”
