Attorney General Patrick Morrissey, a leading candidate in West Virginia’s Republican gubernatorial primary, told SiriusXM. Breitbart News Saturday He said he was “a proven conservative figure” in a field that features politicians and opponents of dynasties.
Morrisey joined the program ahead of Tuesday’s Republican primary in the Mountain State. Several of his opponents in the state come from political backgrounds, including Chris Miller and Moore Capito. Mr. Miller is the son of U.S. Representative Carol Miller (R-West Virginia), and Mr. Capito’s mother is Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-West Virginia).
“The reality is we’re running against three political families and two political dynasties, and these people just represent the swamp,” Morrissey said while delivering his campaign’s closing argument, according to Breitbart News. Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle. “What we’ve done is we’ve talked a lot about my record. I’m one of those proven conservatives with a track record of accomplishing great things for the state. I’m an America First conservative. I’ve worked closely with President Trump.”
listen:
Morrissey said he had worked for years to support Trump’s policies, adding that Capito, a former state lawmaker, and Miller, a businessman, “didn’t actually support Trump.”
“In some cases, they were actively opposing Trump,” he said. “And it’s important to have someone who can not only be a strong conservative to help lift our state up, but also be a conservative warrior against a lot of the far-left and woke nonsense coming out of Washington, D.C.” I think it’s the electric vehicle mandate, the rewriting of Title IX, and trying to put men in women’s locker rooms and all kinds of safe spaces for women. That’s acceptable. We need people who won’t flinch.”
“That’s my record as attorney general: I delivered the Green New Deal, I delivered big left-wing policies that are going to be very important for West Virginia going forward,” he added.
He later called Miller and his family the “ultimate insiders” and claimed that both Miller and Capito work to maintain “power.”
“There’s a guy who’s a used car dealer, and he and his family have shelled out what’s going to be more than $11 million by the time it’s all said and done,” Morrissey said of Miller. “They’re the ultimate insiders, and they’ve got a lot of money from the government, they’ve got subsidies, they’ve got PPP loans that won’t be paid back, and it’s scary to see that because they only benefit from their existence. Because there are people who are close to the government. So he’s an insider, that’s Miller’s guy. ”
“And then there’s this Capito guy I think Don Jr. called RINO. He’s the son of U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito,” he continued. “And in fact, interestingly, the U.S. senator has transferred over $1 million to his son’s super PAC, which shows that these families are trying to stay in power. They profit from power. They are benefiting from the perks and I am against it.”
“It’s me fighting against the political families that profit from the swamp, and breaking the swamp as I did in the West Virginia EPA case and as I’ve done my entire career.” ” Morrissey emphasized.
Mr. Morrissey touted conservatives’ extensive track record as state attorneys general, including working with other conservative attorneys general to fight radical federal policies, and said he would be able to do so if he wins the primary and general election. He showed a clear vision to apply his experience to the governorship.
“We all agree that Washington is broken and too much power has been sent to Washington, D.C. – too much money and too much power. In other words, the state is in a lie. [are] “It’s the only solution to the problems that plague us, and that means states have to stand up and say no to the federal government,” Morrissey said. “They need to say no to regulators, and I’ve been working on that, obviously with the big West Virginia EPA lawsuit and showdowns with federal agencies if they cross the line. But states We also need to say no in terms of financial resources.”
“So what I’m going to do as governor is build on the strength that I’ve shown as attorney general when I’ve been organizing 15, 20, 25 states. “We will come together,” he continued. “As governor, I not only help direct legal issues, but I also have the ability to provide overall financial, economic, policy, and public relations leadership, which means I can involve the governor, state agencies, and treasurers. “And all kinds of people are coming together to be a bulwark against the federal government, and that’s desperately needed. And that’s the change I’m trying to bring about. ”
He said he believes his vision is “consistent with President Trump’s America First policy,” adding, “I want states to responsibly invest the power that President Trump is trying to bring back.” There is,” he added.
The latest poll, published by Emerson College and sponsored by The Hill, found Morrissey with a three-point lead.he collected Capito followed with 28%, followed by Capito with 25% and Miller with 19%. Secretary of State Mac Warner was at 12%, and 16% were undecided.
