Trump heightens attacks against NY prosecutor, Biden at Jersey Shore rally

Former President Trump stepped up his attacks on Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D) and President Biden at his latest rally on the Jersey Shore on Saturday.

Mr. Trump has repeatedly criticized the hush-money lawsuit being filed in New York, firing shots at Mr. Bragg and Judge Juan Marchan, who is overseeing the case. He also blamed Biden for legal troubles in the Manhattan case, despite there being no evidence that the Biden administration had anything to do with the hush-money scandal.

“As you know, I came here from New York, where I am forced to endure a show trial of Biden, all perpetrated by Biden,” Trump said.

He has labeled Mr Marchand “corrupt” and “very conflicted” in a recent series of criticisms, and called Mr Bragg “fat Alvin”. He also described his own multiple indictments as “bullish.”

“I was charged four times in three seconds,” he said at one point.

At times during his rallies, Trump told large crowds of supporters that he thought he could win New Jersey. New Jersey has voted for Democratic presidential candidates in the past eight presidential elections, with Biden leading the state in 2020 with about 57% of the vote.

Lisa Fagan, a spokeswoman for the city of Wildwood, said she estimated attendance at between 80,000 and 100,000 people, according to a report by the Associated Press. The Associated Press also noted that Rep. Van Drew (RN.J.) and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R) were in attendance.

Trump had to take a long week off during his hush money trial to listen to adult film star Stormy Daniels testify about her alleged sexual encounters with the former president. Trump denies having an affair with her.

Marchand imposed a gag order on Trump, prohibiting him from hurling insults at witnesses, jurors, prosecutors, court staff or judges’ families. That doesn’t prevent him from insulting Marchand or Bragg, both of whom he criticizes on an almost daily basis.

Trump has already been fined a total of $10,000 for 10 violations of gag orders, and warned this week that further violations could result in prison time.

The former president faces 34 counts of falsifying business records against former fixer Michael Cohen in connection with reimbursing Daniels for keeping quiet about the alleged affair before the 2016 election. ing. Mr. Trump has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Trump’s visit to the Jersey Shore took place on a day off from his hush money trial. He is required by state law to appear in a New York courtroom for his trial and needs permission from a judge to miss a day of court.
