A senior New York City police officer was apparently caught on camera accidentally spraying himself with pepper spray while attempting to quell an anti-Israel demonstration on the Manhattan Bridge on Saturday.

Some of the demonstrators held placards that read “Palestine will be liberated” and appeared to have their arms crossed as they backed away from police.
Towards the end of the clip, Viewed over 230,000 times On Sunday morning, McCarthy was seen alongside three protesters pulling pepper spray from his pocket and accidentally spraying himself.
The photo shows Mr McCarthy in his white uniform as another officer throws a bottle of water into his shocked face.
Several other police officers are seen tending to his injuries after the accident.
Other clips shared online showed large crowds marching slowly while chanting songs such as:We don’t want your shitty wars.Meanwhile, officers gathered on the Manhattan side and eventually joined up with the group in an effort to round them up, according to one X’s post.
About 150 people were arrested during Saturday night’s demonstrations, an NYPD spokesperson told The Sunday Post.
The NYPD did not immediately respond to the Post’s request for comment on McCarthy’s pepper prayer incident.
