Gisele Bundchen is a world-famous supermodel, but people seem to have a hard time getting her name right.
Clip from when he appeared in 2005 “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” has resurfaced online, with the Brazilian-born star explaining how to pronounce her name correctly.
During the interview, she explained that she came to New York at the age of 16 to become a model and spoke little English.
“It was very difficult for me. I couldn’t communicate and people couldn’t understand me. People would talk to me and pretend they understood me and I’d say, ‘Yes, yes!’ I didn’t even know what he was saying,” she explained with a laugh.

She then explained that her name in Portuguese is spelled Giselle, but it is pronounced like the “i” sound at the end of the word.
That would cause confusion in the casting because people would read it as “Giselle” even though she calls herself “Giseli.”
I thought, “It’s not a difficult name!” So I write it down and they’re like, ‘Giselle,’ I’m like, ‘Giseli,’ so they can never say ‘Giseli,'” she said.
“So I think in the end it was Gisele, no matter what,” she continued. “Call me whenever you feel like it.”
