An Arizona woman is reportedly avoiding prison time after admitting to poisoning her Air Force husband by putting bleach in his coffee.
Melody Felicano Johnson, 40, dropped traces of bleach into her husband Robby Johnson’s coffee maker on July 11, 2023 and July 18, 2023, Arizona’s 13 News reported. Pleaded guilty to two counts of poisoning by food and drink.
Ms Johnson was given a suspended sentence, which includes immediate mandatory mental health treatment, and she is not allowed to have contact with her husband unless the court team is present.
Robbie Johnson said he believed his wife was trying to kill him to collect the death benefit, according to court documents.

She was initially arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault, and adding harmful substances to food, beverages, and drugs, but instead took a plea deal.
Court documents show the couple had children and were considering divorce around the time she tried to poison him.

In March 2023, while his family was stationed in Germany, Robbie started noticing that his coffee tasted strange. He drank coffee for 2-3 weeks and then bought test strips for the pool to determine what the problem was.
First, the tap water was tested and came back normal, but when the coffee was tested, it was found that the drink contained high levels of chlorine.
He said she knew that all she had to do was set up the coffee pot at night and turn it on to make coffee in the morning.

Court documents say Roby pretended to drink coffee while stationed in Germany and waited to alert authorities until his family returned to Tucson, Ariz., last summer because he didn’t want to report what he had found in Europe. That’s what it means.
When the family returned to the United States in late June, Roby set up a camera inside their temporary home near Davis-Monthan Air Force Base to monitor his wife’s movements. The camera reportedly showed Melody pouring bleach into her coffee.
On July 6, he filed a report with Tucson police, but the video didn’t clearly show what kind of liquid his wife was pouring into his drink, so police didn’t pursue him, and Robbie was killed in the fire. It was decided to install a second camera disguised as an alarm. .

Mr Robbie returned to the police station on July 18 to provide additional video evidence, and new footage showed his wife pouring bleach into the coffee machine before making the coffee. Mr. Johnson was then taken into custody.
