A Texas school principal has written a scathing letter to school staff and parents saying she is severing all ties with her teacher’s husband after he was arrested on child pornography charges.
James Stone, a teacher at Tompkins High School in Katy, Texas, was arrested Monday after being found in possession of thousands of images involving minors.
Police said Stone, 53, admitted to making some of the images – some of which were taken on school grounds. FOX26 reported.
His wife, Melinda, who is the principal of Taylor High School, wrote the following email to the community following her husband’s arrest. According to local news.
In one email to staff, Melinda admitted that she knew about her husband’s charges and said she was cutting all ties with him following his “disgraceful” behavior.
“Many of you may be aware of the incident involving my husband, James Stone. James was arrested this morning for possession of pornographic material,” she wrote. According to local news outlets.
“His arrest and involvement in this criminal activity was unknown to me or those closest to him.”
“My family and I are deeply disappointed by his actions, and as James moves on to his next steps, we will not be involved in his criminal proceedings,” she continued.
“It is also important to me that you confirm that I and other family members are involved in James’ criminal activities.”
“As this incident is still under investigation, law enforcement is unable to provide additional information at this time, however, the district and I take this incident very seriously and will fully cooperate with law enforcement.” I know what I’m doing,” she added.
Police claimed the images were distributed on the “dark web” and said the suspect admitted to creating the images himself.
In a separate email to parents, Melinda vowed to continue serving the school’s students.
“I think it is important that parents are aware of the information being shared with staff regarding this matter,” she wrote in part.
“We understand that you may have questions and concerns, and we would be happy to speak with any parents who wish to do so.”
“As stated to the staff below, law enforcement continues to investigate. We apologize for the confusion caused by this shameful incident,” she added.
Savannah Lux, one of her juniors at the school, said she is now reconsidering her involvement with the disgraced teacher.
“I had him be my study hall teacher,” she said. told ABC13. “It was really weird. He always asked me to come to his desk.”
Another student, Anton Freeze, told the magazine: But I’m glad they were finally revealed. ”
The school later informed parents that Stone, who had been off campus for the past week, would not be returning.
He is currently being held in the Fort Bend County Jail. Click2Houston report. Investigation is ongoing.
