Lawyer says Stormy Daniels wore bulletproof vest to testify in Trump trial

The attorney representing Stormy Daniels, the adult film actress at the center of former President Trump’s hush money lawsuit, said she wore a bulletproof vest as she entered a Manhattan courthouse to testify in her trial.

Her lawyer, Clark Brewster, said Daniels was “paralyzed” ahead of her testimony for fear of “what someone might do to her.”

“She was concerned about security in New York,” Brewster said during an appearance on Monday’s show. CNN’s “AC360°”. “She wore a bulletproof vest every day until she went to court.”

“What I can tell you is that before she came on Sunday, I mean, she cried herself to sleep,” he continued. “She was paralyzed with fear. It wasn’t about taking a stand or telling her story, it was about what someone would do to her. And I was terrified of that too. I am deeply concerned about her.”

His comments echo sentiments shared by the actor in a documentary earlier this year in which she claimed she received hush money because her life was in danger. She gave somewhat risqué testimony last week detailing an alleged sexual encounter she had with Mr. Trump in 2006, but Mr. Trump denies having an affair with her.

Cross-examination of Daniels by Trump attorney Susan Necheres sought to paint Daniels as an unreliable witness and accused her of profiting from her alleged relationship with Trump.

The former president faces 34 felonies in the hush money case, alleging he falsified business records related to payments made to Daniels for keeping quiet about the affair. The $130,000 payment was made by Michael Cohen, then President Trump’s fixer, and was paid in the final stages of the 2016 presidential campaign.

Cohen took the stand Monday in the ongoing trial and is expected to continue testifying Tuesday.

The former president denies wrongdoing and maintains his innocence in the case.
