Largest Latino civil rights group UnidosUS endorses Biden in Arizona

The political arm of the largest Latino civil rights organization endorsed President Biden in Arizona on Tuesday, according to a press release.

“It’s a clear choice for Latino voters,” UnidosUS Action Fund President Janet Murguia said at a press conference Thursday. “With Biden, we can continue on the path to progress and a brighter future.”

The group also endorsed Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.), who is running for Senate this year. Gallego will likely face controversial former Arizona Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake.

“This is an election we cannot afford to lose,” Murguia said at a news conference. “We must re-elect Joe Biden. They need elected officials who share the same values ​​and will work to find solutions in Congress. ”

A New York Times/Siena College poll last month found Biden’s approval rating among Hispanics was 50%, compared to former President Trump’s 41%. The Biden campaign said it is doing everything it can to increase support among Hispanics.

Democratic National Committee Chairman Jamie Harrison welcomed the support from the UnidosUS Action Fund in a post on social media platforms on Tuesday.
