Pro-Israel activists in Farmington Hills, Michigan, were able to postpone — for now — an anti-Israel declaration presented to the city council Monday evening.
The resolution is one of dozens that pro-Palestinian activists are demanding in towns across the country as campus “encampments” are cleared and the movement looks for new targets.
Local resident Sue Burstein Kahn said Sunday night. Breitbart News Sunday On SiriusXM Patriot 125, the declaration was described as a code. This is a document that most people have never seen and was introduced without notice.
On Tuesday, she circulated the following email to pro-Israel residents (she also provided this email to Breitbart News):
A huge thank you to everyone who emailed, wrote letters, and attended last night’s Farmington Hills City Council meeting. Your efforts really made a difference and the Manifesto was completely defeated.
An amendment was introduced to remove the declaration from the agenda, but Mayor Theresa Ricci (as far as I was told) was the only one who wanted to keep the declaration and voted against its removal.
We thank our City Council members for recognizing that this declaration would be a serious disadvantage to our community. I’m so proud of the strength you showed.
If this topic is raised, it should be submitted as a resolution so it can be discussed, debated and voted on…
One city councilor said he received about 200 emails and 95% were against the declaration.
Unfortunately, the pro-Palestinian delegation was chanting and stamping their feet en masse in the hallway just outside the chamber, making it difficult to conduct business. They also raised the Palestinian/Hamas flag on the steps of City Hall. I would like to express my admiration for the mayor, who strictly maintains decorum within the council.
This effort continues nationwide. On Tuesday, pro-Palestinian activists descended on City Hall in Santa Monica, California, to support a resolution calling for a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas. At a preliminary outdoor rally, activists denounced Israel’s “genocide” in Gaza.
There is little mention of the Israeli hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip or of Hamas’ first terrorist attack on October 7, which led to the ongoing war.
