ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos told “The View” Tuesday that he believes the so-called deep state is “full of patriots.”
Co-host Alyssa Farrar Griffin said: My favorite part was interviewing the Situation Room staff. I have always said that the authors of history are the nameless White House staff. They will tell us so many details. ”
Stephanopoulos said: I interviewed about 100 on-duty personnel from the White House, and they were relatively young people from all branches of the government, CIA, DIA, Department of Defense, and military. ”
He added, “Some people like to call those people the deep state. Now, the big thing I learned from reading this book is that the deep state is full of patriots. They go to work, they serve their country, they serve their country, they don’t care about political party, they serve the office and the organization. I’m there for you.”
Co-host Sunny Hostin added, “And they’re doing it anonymously.”
Stephanopoulos said, “That’s right. As one of them told me…we will serve in silence.”
