Ahead of Mother’s Day, Republican Sens. Katie Britt (Alabama), Marco Rubio (Florida), and Kevin Cramer (North Dakota) Increased Mothers’ Opportunities for Succeeding (MOMS) Method Provides critical support to women and families. This bill provides support to women during typically difficult stages of motherhood, including pregnancy, postpartum, and early childhood development.
As a mother myself, I have experienced the joys and challenges of early motherhood. In early childhood, there are many questions, many sleepless nights, and many changes between mother and child. I know this firsthand because I needed help and support to get through my pregnancy and find steady footing postpartum.
All women deserve that critical support, and that’s where the MOMS Act comes in.
The MOMS Act aims to connect pregnant, postpartum, and parenting mothers across the country with the critical resources and support they need to reach their goals and succeed. It also ensures that women do not feel pressured to abort their children because lifelines are not available.
According to one survey, a whopping 60% A higher percentage of women who had an abortion said they would have had the baby if they had had more emotional support or financial security. Many times, women who have had an abortion have heard the words, “What if?” “What if I had the support and resources to raise my child? What if I could afford prenatal care?”
Women should never say such words.
From financial and emotional support to medical care, MOMS Law’s multifaceted approach supports the development of mothers and children.
The bill would establish a dot-gov website that would serve as a one-stop shop for mothers to access pregnancy, postpartum, and early childhood resources in their area based on their zip code. Can you believe that such a government site doesn’t even exist right now? A mother needs these resources in one easy-to-access place for her and she scours the internet for important information. No need to search every nook and cranny.
Unfortunately, deliberate and dangerous lies are already being spread by left-wing social media influencers, including the chairman of the Democratic National Committee. They know better, but instead of prioritizing the best interests of women, children, and families, they have chosen to play partisan politics. No, there is no registration for pregnant women in development. There is no tracking of pregnant women. And there is no database of pregnant women. This is a database of resources for pregnant women.
The site also lists federal funding opportunities available to nonprofits and health care providers that provide pregnancy assistance, allowing organizations to focus on caring for women rather than how to pay for them.
To this end, the MOMS Act also creates a new grant program to support organizations that serve mothers. The first program will support the existing network of Pregnancy Resource Centers, a lifeline that millions of women already rely on when faced with an unplanned pregnancy.
Our network of more than 3,000 pregnancy centers strives to ensure no mother is alone or without the resources she needs to raise a child. This typically includes financial support, parenting education, career and housing assistance. Essentials such as clothing, diapers, car seats, cribs, etc. more. And in 2022, there will be more than 10,000 qualified medical staff and volunteers. Medical services providedwhich includes over 500,000 free ultrasound exams.
The second grant program will provide prenatal and postnatal care in rural and underserved areas through telemedicine appointments and by providing access to equipment such as pulse ox monitors and blood pressure monitors. By strengthening the system, it becomes a companion for mothers during pregnancy and after giving birth.
The MOMS Act would also require states to allow mothers to receive child support for their babies throughout their pregnancy if they so choose. Expectant mothers don’t have to shoulder the entire financial responsibility of raising a child alone. As you know, baby costs begin to be charged during pregnancy, not immediately after birth.
All parts of the MOMS Act work together to ensure that women are supported at every stage and in every way during their pregnancy and early motherhood.
Congress should act quickly to pass this bill and build on the current safety net that exists to serve women in need.
We must push back against the lie that women have to choose between motherhood and a successful life. Women who feel forced to make this choice should know that they are not alone. No matter the situation, there is a community willing to walk together. Women need to hear that they are strong and capable of bearing and raising children, rather than being fed the message that abortion is the only option.
In Washington, we rarely all agree on policy, but I hope we all agree that all women and children, regardless of their circumstances or background, have the right to be loved and have a beautiful life. . Let’s empower all mothers with the support, resources, and encouragement they need to be their best selves and be the best mothers they can be. This is a bill that will bring both sides together. The MOMS Act is key in building her net of safety and promoting a culture of living in our country that champions women and supports their families.
This law is truly anti-life for both mothers and children.
