Stock futures are flat, but I think they could start this morning at record highs.
The major averages reached all-time highs on Wednesday, with the S and P 500 closing above 5300 for the first time after CP I data was softer than in April.
But now that inflationary pressures have eased last month, that progress still doesn’t seem to be enough to prompt the Federal Reserve to cut rates.
According to the bond market and inflation consumers are stocking up at Walmart.
The nation’s largest retailer reported higher-than-expected first-quarter sales and same-store sales due to a strong increase in e-commerce sales and an increase in the number of visitors to its giant supercenters.
Walmart also raised its full-year sales and profit forecasts as consumers seek value in transactions amid a still uncertain U.S. economy and regulatory scrutiny.
This morning, the European Union launched a formal investigation into whether meth violates child safety laws.
The European Commission said that Facebook and Instagram quotes can not only cause the so-called rabbit hole effect but also stimulate behavioral addictions in children.
The committee is also considering a platform verification system.
