Exclusive – Attorney General of Nebraska Fighting California EV Mandates

Seventeen states, led by Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers, are filing a lawsuit in response to California’s new EV mandate.

Hilgers explained: Breitbart News Daily Host Mike Slater explains why California’s move is foolish and will impact supply chains.

The Nebraska AG explained that the move is regulated by the California Air Resources Board (CARB), a non-elected body called CARB.

“And it wasn’t just California, by the way, Mike, it was also the EPA in the Biden administration, but essentially what California said is they said, look, we’re the world’s largest We have an economy, one of the largest in the world.”We have very important ports. If you want to use our ports and move any kind of goods within California, once this regulation goes into effect, your trucks will have to have a certain standard of electric vehicles, large electric vehicles. there is. Trucks,” he said, noting that there are “probably 100 large battery-powered semi-trucks across the United States” and that there are more than 16 million diesel-powered trucks in the United States.

“And the Biden administration, the EPA will accomplish more or less the same thing. At the end of the day, these are mandates,” he said, explaining that companies will be required to have a certain number of electric trucks in their fleets.

“To ship the product [in Nebraska]Especially to Asia, you have to go to California. This is difficult to do. … The fleet has to be a certain size, but not very large,” he said, emphasizing that the fleet must have a certain percentage of EVs to operate in California.

listen:

“There are very few EV trucks. There is no charging infrastructure in all of Nebraska, and Interstate 80 is the largest stretch in the country. “There’s not a single charging station. There’s not a single charging station,” Hilgers said. , noted that trucking charging stations “consume so much electricity that they are comparable to a small city.”

“It’s no small thing for anyone, not just Nebraskans,” he added, explaining that the percentage that must be EV changes from year to year.

He said it starts out “about 10 percent” and increases over time, adding that this could also be misleading. ”

“And I would say we have six, seven years, but in the car model year world, and of course in the tractor-trailer world where this technology isn’t proven to be mass produced, I’m not even sure we’d have the minerals to mass produce these kinds of trucks with batteries at scale. Seven years is really just a blink of an eye,” he said, adding that this is essentially an “overnight transportation transformation of the supply chain.”
