‘October 7’ Play Opens in NYC, Telling Victim Stories Through Verbatim Accounts

A play that tells the harrowing story of the victims and heroes of the October 7 attack on Israel opened in New York this week. Playwrights Phelim Makaria and Anne McElhinney described it as a “cultural moment” and “a story of resilience”.

The show being held is Put on Blood-curdling accounts of the deadliest attack in Israel’s history, collected in a series of interviews conducted by McAleer and McElhinney in midtown Manhattan from this week until June 16th, in the exact words of those who lived them. I’m telling you. The venue is under permanent police protection.

“What we have in this theater is a piece of magic, a piece of history,” McAleer said. Breitbart News Daily on wednesday. “We are journalists, our background is in journalism, and we thought that journalism is the first draft of history. Here is journalism and its history that people should see. They need to know. It is.”

“This is a cultural moment in New York,” he continued. “It’s the only theater production in New York that requires permanent police protection. The world has changed, I’ll tell you.”

In the wake of the October 7 attack by Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip that saw the massacre of more than 1,000 people and the kidnapping of hundreds of Jewish hostages inside Israel, New York City was the center of left-wing protests against the subsequent Israeli military operation. It became the center. Marches continued for months through the streets of Manhattan calling for the “liberation” of “Palestine” and the “Intifada.”

“We wanted to perform this song on a New York stage because New York needs to hear this song. New York needs to know that this day happened. New York Encampment, New York Encampment. Campus protests, they’re looking beyond October 8th – what’s happening in Gaza, what’s happening in Palestine – without which there would be nothing in Gaza, and the people. on October 7, when they would have lived peacefully in Gaza,” Makaria said. The play depicts mothers and grandmothers hiding for hours with their young children, police officers protecting those around them, off-duty soldiers, young people watching their friends get slaughtered, and everyday people. More than a dozen personal accounts of the pogrom have been reported. Those who ran toward the oncoming fire to save them—telling stories of survival and resilience through their testimonies.

I remembered when I said that it was being featured in the magazine. He saved more than 100 lives by loading partygoers into his truck multiple times. In this religion, Orthodox Jews are obligated to break the Sabbath to save someone whose life is in danger.

“He said, ‘Perhaps people will learn something about Judaism: that the most important thing, the central, most important thing, and the noblest mission for Jews is to save souls. ”’ McElhinney said. Breitbart News Daily.

McAleer and McElhinney, both journalists, traveled to Israel for three weeks immediately after the attacks, conducting a series of interviews, visiting numerous victims in hospitals and their homes, and gathering stories and first-hand accounts about the play. None of their words were altered or edited in producing the performance.

“Ultimately, this is a story of resilience. As one of the characters says, ‘Abraham, our ancestor, gave us this country. This is the people of Israel, the Jews. ‘And there’s no question about that,’ after watching this play,’ McElhinney said. Breitbart News Daily.
