Boebert heckled in New York while defending Trump

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) was heckled Thursday outside a Manhattan courthouse where she tried to defend former President Trump in his hush money criminal trial.

As Boebert and several other Republicans left the podium at the makeshift news conference, she leaned toward the microphone to say one last word.

“And I want all the news to start asking the question, ‘What is that crime?’ Because everyone in this courtroom is not told what that crime is.” is. The defendant does not know the crime committed,” she exclaimed.

Hecklers yelled back at the Colorado state legislature, which was holding a press conference in one of the most liberal places in the country. At least one person was heard saying “Beetlejuice,” a reference to an incident in which Mr. Boebert was kicked out of a theater performance for misbehavior, including vaping and flash photography.

boebert I posted a clip “I will never stop standing up for President Trump,” even if she is “the last one standing,” she said of her statement on social platform X.

She joined at least eight other Republicans in New York on Thursday to voice support for President Trump’s case.

Boebert was seen in the courtroom along with Republican lawmakers including Matt Gaetz (Florida), Andy Biggs (Arizona), Mike Walz (Florida), and Eli Crane (Arizona). Republican Rep. Andy Ogles (Tennessee), Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (Florida), Rep. Ralph Norman (South Carolina), and Rep. Bob Good (Virginia), chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, are in court. It was witnessed.

Other lawmakers also visited New York this week, including Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) and Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.). Former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Ramaswa) also appeared.

Their appearances have drawn criticism from Democrats. Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) responded to Boebert’s post Thursday afternoon reminding her of the House vote.

“Good. I’m getting paid to do legislative work here in Washington, so it’s the middle of the week.” crockett said. “We’ll hold down the fort while you tap dance on Broadway.”

Republican officials overseeing Mr. Trump’s trial in New York undermined the trial and criticized the judge and witnesses. In some cases, gag orders put in place during the trial have allowed Republican politicians to carry out attacks that Mr. Trump himself could not.
