On Thursday’s “PBS News Hour,” co-host Amna Nawaz reacts to President Joe Biden invoking executive privilege to block special counsel Robert Hur from releasing audio recordings of the presidential investigation. “Biden claimed that during the presidential campaign, Mr. Ha mischaracterized the interview.” “The transcript has come out,” he said, but is now refusing to release any audio that could prove Biden’s claims. NPR national justice correspondent Carrie Johnson agreed, but the White House faced criticism that it would rather release audio recordings that could be used in ads against the president in the 2024 election. Maybe they decided it was better.
Nawaz said: “President Biden claimed that when the recording was released, Mr. Isn’t that what’s going to happen?”
“To some extent, yes, but I think the White House is calculating that it’s better to get criticized for that than to try to release the audio,” Johnson said. If you do that, it could happen.” It was sliced, diced and chopped as part of a campaign ad before November’s election. ”
