according to To the police.

According to the Highland County Sheriff’s Department, the tragic incident occurred at a residence on Joe Hilton Street in Avon Park on Thursday around 8:30 p.m.

Police said they responded to a report of a suspicious incident at the home and found two 69-year-old victims with serious injuries.

“I would like to commend the male victim for his courage and quick action to protect his wife at home.”

The husband of the house said the man “used a trick to break into the house” based on his wife’s work as a notary public. When the man entered the house, he pulled out a gun and shot the man’s wife in the face.

After watching his wife get shot, the man armed himself with what was described as a 7-inch garden knife and stabbed the man to death.

Police later identified the alleged home invader as 62-year-old Lindsey Glenn.

“Once armed with a knife, he began to tackle Mr Lindsey Glenn.” Said Sheriff Paul Blackmun attends a media conference. “In the end, the suspect, Lindsay Glenn, was dismembered and by the time police arrived, she was already dead.”

Blackman said Glenn had previously been sent to prison at least six times after being convicted of 12 different felonies. The sheriff’s office said they believe Glenn believed the couple had money in the house because of his work as a notary public.

“I would like to commend the male victim for his courage and quick action to protect his wife at home,” Blackman said. “We wish his wife a speedy and full recovery.”

The man’s wife was taken to a trauma center where she was treated and is in stable condition. Her husband was treated for his injuries at a hospital and released.

Police said the incident is still under investigation.

Avon Park is a city of approximately 10,000 people in south-central Florida and is named after Stratford-upon-Avon, England.
