Brawl erupts during Tennessee high school graduation after a student throws up gang signs

A Tennessee high school senior apparently thought it would be a good idea to throw his diploma at other students when he was kicked out of a graduation ceremony for holding up a gang sign, the newspaper reported. new york post. As a result, a fight began on the stage.

The brawl broke out Thursday night as Hamilton High School was celebrating its senior year graduation inside the Cannon Center in Memphis, Tennessee. Footage of the controversy was shared on social media.

However, as the student was being escorted from his seat, he was seen throwing a graduation binder at another student sitting in the back row. A security guard grabbed the student who threw the binder, but the student jumped over a row of chairs and chased the attacker.

Two other students eventually became involved in the dispute, and several security guards intervened to break up the fight, the report said. The newspaper reported that one of the students was pepper sprayed by one of the security guards.

The ceremony was briefly interrupted, but one of the speakers said over the sound system:[w]I’m not going to stop us from graduating. This is the Wildcat way, so we keep going. ”

Quita White, whose son graduated, said, “How do people fight at graduation ceremonies? Why are people fighting when it’s a time of celebration? Why are they so angry?”

As a result of the scuffle, all involved were issued juvenile citations or misdemeanor charges and were immediately released to their parents. According to reports, one police officer was injured during the conflict.

The injured worker’s wife said, “There was a large bruise on his left eye, and his glasses were also broken.The front of his leg also appears to have been fractured.”

The woman, who has not been identified, accused the principal of ruining the graduation ceremony for other students.

“We knew this was the end of the school year and the kids were fighting to get each other,” she said. “Now they weren’t in school. But they gave him a package. ‘You guys can walk over,’ the woman said.

The woman went on to say that she did not believe that the students involved in the scuffle should have attended the graduation ceremony.
