Max Verstappen grabbed pole in Imola, then went back to racing

In case you needed a reminder of how much Max Verstappen loves racing, whether real or virtual, he was given one on Saturday.

Verstappen fought off the field at the F1 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix held in historic Imola, taking pole position for eight consecutive F1 races. This mark dates back to last season’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, where Verstappen equaled the record set by the legendary Ayrton Senna. Verstappen equaled the legendary driver’s record in a week when the sport commemorates Senna and Roland Ratzenberger, who tragically lost their lives at the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, also at Imola.

But Verstappen’s race day wasn’t over.
