Auburn Tigers running back Brian Batty was injured in a shooting Saturday in Sarasota, Florida. His younger brother, Tommy Batty, 24, was killed and was pronounced dead at the scene.

brian battyThe 22-year-old is the Tigers’ primary kick returner and adds depth to the Tigers’ running back ranks throughout the 2023 season. Batty ranked fifth in the SEC with an average kick return of 23 yards per touch. His kick return average per game was just under 50 yards. During the season, he also gained 227 rushing yards and scored a touchdown against Arkansas on November 11th.
Before joining Auburn, he was a veteran who played three years at South Florida. In the 2021 season, he rushed for 650 yards and three touchdowns and was named a consensus All-American. He was USF’s primary kick returner. In 2022, he was named to the All-AAC second team and totaled 1,186 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Brian was a standout student-athlete at Sarasota High School, and his younger brother Tommy was a student-athlete at Braden River High School.
