Deputy U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Stands for Moment of Silence for Raisi

U.S. Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations Robert Wood on Monday observed a moment of silence for late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, despite his reputation as a brutal and oppressive leader.

The act against the late leader known as the “Butcher of Tehran” angered American Jews and Israelis. Iran has been financing terrorism against Israeli and Western targets in the Middle East for decades.

In recent months, Iranian-backed terrorist groups in Iraq and Iran have targeted U.S. forces in the region, killing three people and wounding dozens. The Iranian-backed Houthis have targeted U.S. troops and international commercial vessels in the Red Sea.

The United Nations Security Council recently held a moment of silence to mourn the death of Islamic Republic President Raisi, nicknamed the “Butcher of Tehran.”

Raisi died in a helicopter crash on Sunday, an incident that shocked the world and drew congratulations from Iran’s opposition. As Breitbart News’ John Hayward reported, Raisi was named the “Butcher of Tehran” after the 1979 Islamic Revolution for his role in killing dissidents.

Raisi died along with Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and several other Iranian officials.

Raisi also spoke out against protests in Iran after a young Kurdish woman named Mahsa Amini was killed by Iran’s “morality police” in September 2022 for not wearing her mandatory headscarf correctly. led a brutal repression.
