According to a report published by wall street journal (WSJ) On Monday, U.S. health regulators gave the go-ahead for the implant to be inserted into a second patient after Elon Musk’s company offered to fix the problems that arose with the first patient.

Neuralink reported earlier this month that its first patient’s small wire implant had come loose. According to sources cited by Reuters The company acknowledged last week that the wires could retract based on animal studies.

According to the report, WSJ Neuralink plans to address this problem by implanting some of the device’s wires deep into the brain, people familiar with the company said.

Neuralink plans to operate on a second patient in June, and 10 more later this year. More than 1,000 people have reportedly signed up for the patient registry.

The company aims to submit applications to regulatory authorities in Canada and the United Kingdom, and added that it plans to begin similar trials in the coming months.

They said the first patient implanted with a brain chip was able to use his thoughts to control a computer mouse “without any adverse effects” in February.

According to Neuralink, the research will use a robot to surgically implant a brain-computer interface device into the part of the brain that controls locomotion intentions.

The FDA said it cannot discuss information about a specific company’s human trial application or related research.
