Mayor Andre Dickens, Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schielbaum, Bishop Reginald Jackson of the Sixth District AME Church and officials from the prosecutor’s office were also reportedly in attendance.

Willis took to the podium later that day and told supporters that no one is above or “below” the law, apparently agreeing to his prosecution in the Trump trial.

“This is a disturbing message, but no one is above the law and no one is above the law in this country,” Willis said.

Wade and Willis were accused of an “illicit” extramarital affair by lawyers for former President Donald Trump and several co-defendants in the massive 2020 election interference case. They accused the two of having a romantic relationship before Willis hired Wade in 2021 and that Willis benefited financially from their relationship when the two went on vacation. Both men deny the charges.

Wade resigned from the prosecutor’s office in March after Fulton Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee ruled that Willis could not continue working on cases as long as Wade was still on the team.

Mr. Trump and his co-defendants appealed that decision to the Georgia Court of Appeals, seeking to disqualify Mr. Willis.
