Corey Lewandowski says former President Trump is the boss when it comes to this summer’s Republican National Convention.

“Donald Trump is the final say on everything that happens at the convention,” Lewandowski said in an interview with Fox News Digital on Wednesday.

The Trump campaign’s 2016 campaign manager and longtime friend and outside adviser to the former president made the comments a day after the Trump campaign confirmed it had hired Lewandowski to advise the campaign and the Republican National Committee (RNC) on the 2024 GOP delegate and convention process.

“He’s very helpful to me, he’s helpful to the RNC, he’s helpful to the president,” Chris Lacivita, a senior adviser to Trump’s 2024 campaign, told Fox News.

The news was first reported by National Review and Politico, which reported that the RNC, in a filing with the Federal Election Commission, hired Lewandowski’s company on April 24 for “management consulting.” It was noted that the payment was made.

The move marks Lewandowski’s official return to the Trump campaign.

Mr. Lewandowski led Mr. Trump’s first presidential campaign from the start of his 2015 campaign through the 2016 primary election. He was fired in June of that year, but remained close to the then-Republican presidential candidate. Mr. Lewandowski, a New Hampshire resident, led the state’s delegation to the Republican National Convention in Cleveland that summer.

After Trump assumed power in the White House, Lewandowski became the then-president’s top outside adviser and played an influential advisory role in Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign. Then, in early 2021, Trump appointed Lewandowski to create and run his first super PAC since leaving office.

“I’ve been very fortunate to have had great relationships with candidates, presidents and post-presidents over the last 10 years, and that has never wavered or changed,” he said.

Lewandowski also highlighted his “great relationship with Suzie Wildes,” who will be helming the Trump campaign alongside LaCivita: “I don’t think anyone can question the success of the 2024 campaign.”

But Lewandowski is no stranger to controversy.

In the fall of 2021, Lewandowski was removed from running the super PAC and Trump severed ties with the longtime adviser and aide after he was accused of making unwanted sexual advances to the wife of a major Trump donor during a Las Vegas charity dinner. Lewandowski was later charged with misdemeanors, but the charges were dropped after he completed impulse-control counseling, community service and paid a fine under an agreement with prosecutors.

Asked whether past controversies could be a distraction in the future when advising the Trump campaign and RNC, Lewandowski said, “I always do what’s best for the campaign and the candidates.” He’s someone who has given me honest advice, and I think that’s a possibility.” Therein lies the value. ”
