Xander Schauffele had a great performance to finally win the first major of his career, but that wasn’t the biggest story coming out of Valhalla Golf Club at the PGA Championship.

He said Scottie Scheffler’s arrest by Louisville police last Friday was a “huge misunderstanding,” but it became the biggest story in the second major game of the season and now that his arraignment has been postponed to June 3. The topic continues.

But while Schauffele himself was having a very turbulent week in Louisville, Schauffele was in a WhatsApp group chat with the world No. 1 golfer and his pals to defuse the tension caused by the arrest. revealed.

“He handled it really well,” Schauffele added. “In true Scottie Scheffler fashion, he’s a good guy. When I saw it, I thought it was a prank, but then I saw it on the news and I was like, ‘Oh my God, that really happened!’ It seems like he’s going to come out of all of this okay. I feel like things are going to fall into place.”

Before the final round on Sunday, reports emerged that Schauffele had finished strong and that Schauffele had made a birdie putt on the 18th to beat Bryson DeChambeau by one stroke to win the tournament.
