Footage of a baggage handler… “handling” (HA!)… luggage being removed from a Delta flight is going viral because he was recklessly and carelessly tossing the luggage with zero consideration. Honestly, zero consideration for golf equipment. The ultimate sin.
The equipment belonged to the East Tennessee State University (ETSU) men’s golf team. Video of the incident went viral on Wednesday. In fact, the video caused so much backlash that Delta Airlines apologized and asked ETSU to give them another chance. Delta is calling it a “mulligan” (a genius marketing move by Delta).
East Tennessee posted a video of this stupid baggage handler on social media Tuesday night, showing him slamming the team’s golf clubs onto the runway while other baggage handlers loaded them onto a transportation vehicle. He made it even worse by manipulating the clubs as if he was too frail to pick them up properly. Disgraceful! “It’s great that Delta Airlines treats our club so well…” the ETSU account posted on Twitter.
Delta Air Lines apologized to ETSU in a statement. time.
“We apologize to the ETSU golf team and ask them to reconsider their handling of their equipment,” Delta spokesman Anthony Black said. “We are in direct contact with the Bucs to ensure they have what they need to be successful in the NCAA.”
Meanwhile, the Southern Conference champions will advance through the NCAA Regional Tournament and advance to the NCAA Championships in Carlsbad, California.
