Former Obama speechwriter Jon Lovett to appear on ‘Survivor’

A former Obama administration speechwriter is fleeing into the wilderness — to compete on the next season of “Survivor.”

Jon Lovett, one of the hosts of the liberal podcast “Pod Save America,” will appear on the 47th season of the CBS competition series.

His appearance on the long-running show was confirmed with the release of the “Survivor” trailer on Thursday.

“I have no outdoor skills,” Lovett, who is also co-founder of Crooked Media, admitted on camera. “What am I doing here? I went camping as a Cub Scout. I threw up and came home.”

Jon Favreau, a former colleague of former President Barack Obama’s, confirmed his friend’s appearance on the hit show in a tongue-in-cheek tweet.

“What did you say?” he asked. Posted. “Eat and pray, Lovett.”

Favreau and podcast host Dan Pfeiffer also joked about what would happen to Lovett, 41, during the jungle trip.

“In a critical election year where democracy is on the line, I would say many would argue the best place for Lovett is an island with no internet access,” Pfeiffer said in a soon-to-be released video. New podcast episodes.

“I’m sure he’s busy campaigning in earnest,” Favreau replied, “and I’m sure all the other candidates are from battleground states.”

“I’m just trying to get every vote,” he continued, “for Tribal Council, of course, but also for Joe Biden.”

“Survivor” will be taped from early May to early July, according to the show’s website.

The show is set to air in the fall, though an exact date has yet to be decided.
