“If any of us in this room were to [blood alcohol limit of] “0.38 mph. I have no idea how he was driving 0.38 mph. It’s unbelievable,” Winter Springs Police Chief Matt Tracht said at a news conference Thursday morning.
According to an arrest warrant obtained by police, Alexander’s friend from the running club told police he had just left the park and was running behind Alexander at the time of the accident. FOX 35 Orlando.
Escobar is suspected of speeding and running a red light, Tracht said, but it’s unclear how fast he was driving.
Escobar told police he had his last alcoholic drink around 1:30 a.m., several hours before the crash.
“I can’t believe it was 0.38 at 10am that morning. So if I stop drinking at 1.30am, is it 0.4 or 0.5? I don’t know. [you] He’s probably dead by that point,” Tracht said.

Tracht said two of Alexander’s three children were in the back seat at the time of the crash and suffered minor injuries, and the chief said the children were not seriously harmed and the crash could have been prevented.
“If Ms. Escobar had made the right choices that day, this accident could have been completely avoided. We all know that she did not make the right choices and this is what happened,” Tracht said.
During the press conference, reporters asked Tracht how the Alexander family was coping.
“I spoke to Mr. Alexander last night and expressed our condolences,” Trucks said.
Tracht said police are still investigating the incident and are executing search warrants.
