GOP Investigates Jordanians Who Reportedly Tried to Breach U.S. Military Base

Republicans on the House Homeland Security Committee have launched an investigation into how two Jordanian nationals who reportedly tried to break into Marine Corps Base Quantico in Prince William County, Virginia, this month got to the United States.

Committee Chairman Mark Green (R-Tenn.) and subcommittee chairs Dan Bishop (R-N.C.), August Plueger (R-Texas) and Clay Higgins (R-Louisiana) said: letter He questioned Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, and FBI Director Christopher Wray about the incident.

On May 3, two Jordanian nationals reportedly drove a truck up to the base’s main gate despite not having an entry pass. The two Jordanian nationals continued driving towards the gate until they were stopped by a vehicle barrier operated by police.

The two suspects were handed over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Fox News Digital’s Griff Jenkins and Greg Norman report: report Both Jordanian nationals are illegal immigrants.

A DHS source told Fox News Digital that one of the Jordanian nationals was apprehended at the southern border near San Diego, California in April and later released in the United States, while the other initially entered the U.S. on a student visa but is believed to have overstayed his visa.

Potomac Local News report At least one Jordanian national is on the FBI’s “terrorist watch list,” although the federal agency would not confirm this.

“The Committee is concerned by the Department of Homeland Security’s pattern of releasing terrorism suspects at the southwestern U.S. border and the resulting national security risks, including threats to U.S. military installations and critical infrastructure,” the Republicans wrote.

Of those encounters, at least eight were publicly disclosed as having been “accidentally” released from Customs and Border Protection or ICE custody.Some of them have committed heinous crimes against U.S. citizens. At least one of the individuals who attempted to force their way into Naval Base Quantico on May 3, 2024 appears to reflect another such case of accidental release.

Republicans are demanding a wealth of information about the federal government’s response to the incident and how the Jordanian nationals got to the United States, including:

All documents and communications (including, but not limited to, emails, text messages, internal memoranda, and guidance) between any or all personnel of the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Defense, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation from May 3, 2024 to the present that refer to or relate to the incident at Marine Corps Base Quantico on May 3, 2024.

Sufficient documentation to identify the names and countries of origin of the occupants of the truck used to attempt to break into Marine Corps Base Quantico on May 3, 2024.

Copies of complete and up-to-date alien files, including Form I-213 (Deportable/Inadmissible Alien Record), for all individuals who attempted to enter Marine Corps Base Quantico on May 3, 2024.

Sufficient documentation to show all negative information in the terrorist screening data set relating to the individual who attempted to enter Marine Corps Base Quantico on May 3, 2024.

All documents, including ICE officer and prosecutor notes, contained in the Enforcement Removal Operations Eagle database that refer to or relate to individuals who attempted to enter Marine Corps Base Quantico on May 3, 2024.

Republicans are calling on the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Defense and the FBI to provide the above information by June 6th.
