Democrats and their allies in the liberal media are desperate to undermine the U.S. Supreme Court and blunt its conservative influence. This public-private campaign is focused on portraying Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas as ideologically compromised culture warriors who are incapable of impartially deciding cases related to the January 6 protests and former President Donald Trump.

The latest attack on a flag designed by an aide-de-camp to General George Washington and flown by American patriots during the Revolutionary War and beyond may prove similarly futile.

The Blaze News previously reported that Obama evangelist Jodi Kantor launched the latest phase of the joint public-private campaign on May 16 with an article in The New York Times titled, “‘Stop the Steal’ Symbol on Display at Judge Alito’s Residence.”
The so-called “Stop the Steal” symbol in question is an American flag, which Alito’s wife, Martha Ann Alito, allegedly put up “in response to a neighbor using offensive and personally derogatory language on a yard sign.”
Alito told the Times he had nothing to do with the incident, and Cantor offered no evidence linking the alleged flag-flipping to support for the Jan. 6 protests. But that didn’t stop Cantor from insinuating a connection, relying on partisan neighborly interpretations and adopting the blame-framing of left-wing “experts.”
Once the Times established the narrative, Democrats ran with it.

The Times ran another article building on Kanter’s original framework, with the help of former Marshall Project activist Abby VanSikle.

The riot occurred almost two years before the more famous Boston Tea Party protests and three years before open hostilities began at the Battles of Lexington and Concord. The pine tree was also used for the flag raised by the colonists at the Battle of Bunker Hill in June 1775.

In his Times piece, Cantor stoked fears that the same judge who reportedly raised the historic American flag could rule “on a case that could dismiss some of the charges against Mr. Trump, as well as whether he should be granted immunity from prosecution for acts committed while in office.”
“This is a threat to the rule of law and a serious violation of ethics, integrity, and Justice Alito’s oath of office.”

House Minority Leader Katherine Clark (D-Massachusetts) had her adult son arrested and indicted in January 2023 for assaulting a Boston police officer. “This is not just an example of extremism trumping conservatism. It is a threat to the rule of law and a serious violation of ethics, integrity, and Justice Alito’s oath of office,” Clark continued, without confirmation that Justice Alito had raised the flag. “At a minimum, he must recuse himself from any incident involving January 6th, Donald Trump, and the security of our elections. Anything less would be a stain on our system of justice and our democracy.”
