Recently, apartment managers have been trying all sorts of things to attract new tenants.
Online housing platform RentCafe recently released the results of a survey on some of the strangest and quirkiest amenities found in apartments across the country.
The idea is that apartment buildings are adding amenities to their properties to make them more attractive to renters, including those who are searching for property or want to buy but can’t currently do so for a variety of reasons.

At the Ava DoBro tower, building residents can walk out of their apartments, hop in an elevator, and descend straight to the subway platform below the building.
RentCafe says the amenity will add a “charming element to city living.”
2. DNA-Based Pet Waste Management System
According to research from RentCafe, some apartment complexes across the country are offering the perk of checking your pet’s waste for DNA, depending on how you look at it.

The company says the amenity eliminates any suspicion that it’s the tenant who lets their pet defecate and then fails to clean up after themselves.

The equipment will enable buildings to collect samples of waste and trace it back to the pet owners responsible.
“This quirky amenity could turn an awkward conversation with your homeowner into a Law & Order episode: a pet’s DNA sample could prove you’re a responsible pet owner and help solve the mystery,” the company said.
3. Rock climbing wall
According to RentCafe, SkyHouse, an apartment complex in Lower Manhattan, New York City, features a rock climbing wall and an outdoor slide.
The rock climbing wall is 55 feet tall, and the apartment building is touting it as a unique amenity to prospective tenants.

“For families with children, this unusual amenity is not only a great way to keep the kids active on rainy days, but it also allows adults to rediscover their kiddos without having to leave the house,” Rent Cafe noted.
4. Luxury car elevator
A popular luxury amenity in some apartment complexes is a car elevator.
The Bentley Residence Tower in Miami, Florida, has a car elevator that allows residents to put their cars in the elevator and have them transported to their apartment doors.

RentCafe noted that this quirky amenity is a great alternative to lugging bags of groceries into your home.
5. Podcast Studio
According to RentCafe, some apartments offer access to a podcast studio located in the luxury building.
With thousands of podcasts listened to every day, the space allows residents to start their own podcast without ever leaving the building.

“What many people probably don’t realize is that in addition to a great sense of humor, a great hairstyle and the ability to tell a story in under two minutes, aspiring social media stars also need to pay attention to their equipment,” RentCafe noted.

“The good thing about this approach is that if you don’t use any of the amenities, you are not obligated to pay. Tenants should follow the advice of a trusted advisor and try to negotiate concessions,” she recommended.
