Reigning Cup Series champion Ryan Blaney didn’t watch the game but said after watching the video, “That was an awesome game.”

“Emotions always flare. No matter what you do, sometimes they explode. There are differences of opinion and sometimes fistfights come out,” Blaney said in a recent interview with Fox News Digital.

“Tensions ran high. It happens a lot in sports. Sometimes emotions erupt and that’s what happens. Players disagree and emotions get the better of them. It was intense, for sure.”

“It’s hard to calm the adrenaline when you’re going 200 miles per hour.”

The 30-year-old said there isn’t much difference between arguments in NASCAR and arguments in other sports.

“I don’t understand what other guys go through in sports, dirty or not,” Blaney said. “If you play football, you’re definitely going to have people trying to put you down, which is probably something you shouldn’t do and players get upset about it. It’s the same with racing. If you get beaten up on purpose, you’re going to be pretty upset.”

“Like anything, disagreements lead to people taking on others and it makes for titillating television. But, yes, like anything, if you feel you’ve been wronged, you’re going to try to make it right.”

NASCAR fined Stenhouse $75,000 and suspended his father and two crew members for their roles in the brawl, but did not discipline Busch or his teammates.
