Video Appears To Show Immigrants Pelting Border Patrol Agents With Rocks, Bottles

Video from Fox News reporter Bill Melgin appears to show illegal immigrants hurling rocks, water bottles and sand at Border Patrol agents in an attempt to cross into the United States.

The video shows a group of undocumented immigrants confronting Border Patrol agents as they try to scale the border wall using makeshift ladders near Santa Teresa, New Mexico. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) provided “aerial support” and filmed the encounter, the agency told reporters. New York Post.

The migrants appeared to start throwing objects at agents as they struggled for control of the ladder. Eventually, the would-be crossers gave up and stayed on the Mexican side of the border.

“This video shows recent behavior by these groups in the El Paso area, throwing rocks, sand and water bottles at responding officers,” DPS told the New York Post. The incident comes amid an ongoing crisis at the southern border, where more than 8 million migrants have encountered each other under the Biden administration. report from the House Oversight and Accountability Committee and the House Homeland Security Committee.

Many immigrants were subsequently charged with participating in the riots, but on April 23rd a county court dismissed 140 cases involving their alleged participation.

“After reviewing the affidavits, I do not believe (probable cause) exists,” El Paso County Judge Ruben Morales ruled, according to the El Paso Times. “I do not believe there is probable cause for the continued detention of these individuals for participating in a riot.”

“It’s like someone at the front of line at a concert getting into a fight with a security guard and then arresting everyone in line,” the judge added, according to WFXR.
