New York Police Department officers shot and killed an “emotionally unstable” man in Brooklyn early Sunday morning after he charged at them with two knives, police said.
Police said at a press conference that officers were responding to a domestic violence call in the Bushwick neighborhood when a man banged on a car window to get officers’ attention.
Once officers exited the vehicle, they saw the 26-year-old man possess two knives and deployed a Taser after voice commands failed.
Two officers fired their guns at the knife-wielding man, fatally wounding him.

He was rushed to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The officers were also taken to hospital for examination.
“We do everything we can to de-escalate anyone who is emotionally disturbed,” NYPD Chief John F. Chell said Sunday.
