George Conway predicts Donald Trump won’t be unanimously acquitted in hush money trial

Conservative commentator George Conway predicted that former President Trump will not be unanimously acquitted in his Manhattan hush money trial.

Conway Said MSNBC’s Katie Pan reported Saturday that testimony over the past few weeks has shown that Trump is “deeply implicated” in the case. He faces 34 charges of falsifying business records. Conway added that “it would be difficult for a jury not to find Trump guilty.” [Trump] I didn’t cause all of this.”

All 12 jurors must agree on the same verdict on all 34 charges against Trump, or the trial will be called a mistrial. Conway said Trump’s defense is simply hoping one juror doesn’t agree to convict the former president.

“The defense has a tough job, but all they have to do is convince one juror to hang the group. I don’t think they’re going to get an acquittal. I don’t think they’re going to get a unanimous vote of 12 people to acquit,” he said. “Their best hope is that there’s someone on the jury who will refuse to convict, and that’s what they’re going to do.”

He also said the defense would need to present an alternative explanation “beyond a reasonable doubt” in its closing arguments, though he noted he didn’t know what that alternative theory would be.

Trump’s defense concluded arguments last week without calling the former president as a witness, and the judge said last week that closing arguments would begin on Tuesday, with the jury’s verdict to follow shortly thereafter.

The former president is charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection with paying off Trump’s former fixer Michael Cohen to adult film star Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about an alleged affair with Trump. Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges and denies the affair.
